Such was the reaction to Pulp's fantastic UK tour support last November, we decided to add a page exclusively for them, because they're lovely and they deserve it.

Check out audience reaction to the tour, the discography, and how to get hold of the elusive records and merchandise.

Interview

Biography
They are neither fat nor truckers; rather three rather dapper young men from Sheffield South Yorkshire who make some rather fine music. Propelled by their love of the Moog and the Korg, the Fat Truckers are an intriguing amalgamation of high-end glam, English eccentricity and electronic tomfoolery, part Cabaret Voltaire, part Fall and part prime time Mike Leander.

All in their late twenties, and looking good courtesy of liberal helpings of Yorkshire fresh air, Henderson's Relish and Ginsters finest pastry products, Ben Rymer, Mark Hudson and Ross Orton came to the publics attention thanks to their monumental debut 7" release, Teenage Daughter / Multiplex.

The perfect antidote to the washed out, washed up blandoramma that is Travis, Coldplay et al, the Fat Truckers tale started with some failed efforts to make dance music in Ross' bedroom. "We tried but it was shite", according to Ross. Thankfully, the Truckers avoided shipwreck at the hands of the plodding beat.  (Taken from the Press Release for Superbike)

The Fat Truckers are members of the Desperate Sound System (Jarvis Cocker & Steve Mackey's loose DJ collective). Check the What's On page for latest dates.

Here's what you think of them in general and as tour support for Pulp... bit of a mixed reaction but we here at Pulp HQ LOVE YOU FAT TRUCKERS!  The set list was roughly: Teenage Daughter / Favvers Plimsolls / Multiplex / Superbike / The Ron is Back / Motions / Anorexic Robot

The Fat Truckers are BONKERS!! Great though, I will be going out and buying some of their music soon!! Great show !! (Carly Hay)

What's all this about FT being good!  You should try having your ears 2 foot away from the speakers while they make a horrible noise & say 'Teenage Daughter' in a fake London accent over & over for about 3 hours. I can see they're up for a laugh, (couldn't do much else could they). Multiplex was the best bit, kind of amusing, but everyone around me was glad when they went! (Toni Sutton)

What a night at the Octagon! Brilliant set from Pulp and an introduction to the sound of Fat Truckers..I even bought their single (you were right, it IS top) I was standing at the right of the stage and saw Jarvis, Richard, Nick and Steve all enjoying the Truckers' set. Nick was standing just behind me. Am trying to recover my hearing today though! (Andy Coles)

I have to put my oar in here...I saw them support Pulp on Sunday and couldn't believe how appalling they were...I think musically they'd like to be Cabaret Voltaire but just aren't enigmatic enough...they have to have the most annoying front men I have ever seen, lead singer cross between Eddie Tenpole & Ian Curtis, second singer looks like the twatty drummer from S**********ics (which I know on it's own isn't enough reason for disliking a band). I thought lyrically they were bereft of imagination and even with four on synths at a time they couldn't
even get close to making the same noise Cian from Super Furry Animals does on his own.
I honestly don't get it...I love Cabaret Voltaire in all their incarnations and I always look forward to seeing support bands cos in the past they've often run the main act close but this was terrible. Sorry and all that :) (Paul Sands)

I thought they were BRILLIANT although I did get the impression that a lot of people didn't know what to make of them. We were all blown away by them - I had always liked the FT remix of Sunrise and can't wait for the records to come out. They were really fascinating and such a good sound. (Roz)

Fat Truckers mix of Sunrise was wicked though if only for Jarvis going "ooooh aahhh uhhh aahhh oooh eee hahe uh" for the first time in 7 years! (Josh)

I was surprised at the lack of people in the audience. It eventually started at 8pm,
and the theatre wasn't even half-full, and I could see why when the awful support band 'The Fat Truckers' started playing. Would someone explain to me how some men shouting 'Teenage Daughter' over and over again can be classed as good music? When the Fat Truckers said they were about to play their last song, there was an audible sound of relief, which made me feel rather sorry for them.
(It made me feel rather sorry for you lot - Ed.) (Sophie Stott)

I saw Pulp last night at the Brixton Academy - thought I'd mention the brilliance of it - was fab I've never been let down by them live. Also was great to see a support band that was actually worth seeing - they were great - trouble is I want an album now - release one soon Fat Truckers - or else !! (Lisa)

Fat Truckers ROCKED at the Octagon, it was such a shame that people didn't seem to be into it. Some of them seemed to think that Jarvis was watching the crowd, ready to denounce as a traitor anyone who deviated from the standard support-band dance of aloof nodding. I don't want Fat Truckers to think we're all like that- I don't want any misunderstandings between me and their beautiful lead singer. (Pinda)

I just read the reviews of the Fat Truckers in pulp people, and i just wanted to say I'm pretty shocked that people thought they were rubbish. They're the only opening band I've ever enjoyed, and the only band I've really liked when seeing them for the first time.  I thought the guys and
the songs were funny (in a good way).  The music made me need to bounce to the beat.  Anyways if you could let them know that not everyone totally hated them! (Debi Nash)
