Brighton Centre, 3 December

"The band walked on stage with that satanic opening note of The Fear echoing around the arena. Jarvis came on. Then another Jarvis came on. Hmmm. They once again took turns singing each part of the song and, as it drew to its end, both Jarvis' started doing the dance moves and head flicks we love. Before anyone had time to clap, Jarvis played the opening chords to Babies - the crowd went crazy and were pogoing so much it looked like the floor was moving. Underwear went down a storm...next up was one of my faves, Dishes. The guitar solo near the song's closure and Jarvis' wailing vocals made this a real highlight. Seductive Barry started as an experimental all over the place weird noise extravaganza, but finished with a quicker tempo and funky bassline that had the crowd bopping to the beat. Where they had played Sylvia at Wembley, they played Do You Remember The First Time, which worked better - before the song, Jarvis commented on a flashing amusement ride which he had seen on the Palace Pier, that reminded him of a giant flashing penis...Party Hard was brilliant; they encored with Common People, the lights were blinding, the crowd were cheering - right to the dying seconds of the song it was apparent we were witnessing the best band in the world doing what they do best.

"After a quick fag break, err, I mean encore, they returned to lay Disco 2000 and We Are The Boyz. Suddenly, a man ran onstage and made a diving grab for Jarvis, resulting in three huge security guys grabbing him...they yanked his wrists and pulled him backstage, and no-one knew what happened to him...
