Homelands saw the birth of Steve and Jarvis' Desperate Sound System - see below for info! Those of you with enough stamina [or drugs] to be up all night may have witnessed the DSS Tent on the far side of the site (photo below)

Jarvis on the decks in the Desperate tent

The Desperate Sound System - What was going to be the Pulp DJ van has moved undercover to the (ahem)  PULPLANDS tent, due to an 11pm outdoor music curfew.  After Pulp play their live set Jarvis & Steve will set up their decks in the 200 capacity tent and together with a few friends will be playing their favourite tunes through the night. Jarvis made this flyer to explain:

Desperate Music for Desperate People

(An evening of music hosted by Mr.'s Cocker and Mackey)

Do you?

1.    Sometimes think that you ought to have moved onto doing something more constructive with your life by now.

2.    Have an allergy to Salsa.

3.    Believe that teenagers are the new conservatives.

4.    Still believe that actual radical change is possible.

5.    Occasionally take a walk in the country while completely straight.

6.    Wish that certain parts of your memory could be bulk erased in order to make room for newer more useful information.

7.    Find it hard to be around people who still take drugs yet wouldn't really trust someone who had never taken them.

8.    Know where your local garden center is.

9.    Suspect that they spirit of 88 lives on out there somewhere.

10.    Believe that children donšt necessarily have to ruin your nightlife.

11.   Know that one day a real rain will come

12.   Own an exercise bike

Answering yes to the majority of above may suggest a predisposed fondness for Desperate, a musical extravaganza hosted by Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey of Pulp.

With both Jarvis and Steve as resident DJ's, the Desperate night will visit venues and festivals across the UK this summer with a rotating roster of guest DJ's. The first Desperate will take place at this summers Homelands Festival on May 25th / 26th in Winchester, where Pulp will also be appearing.

DJšs to feature alongside Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey will include: Parrot (All Seeing-I / Earth records), Dean Honer (I-Monster / Cercle Records), The Fat Truckers (Cercle Records), Winston & Pipes, Barry 7 (Add N To X / Cercle Records), Simon Russell (Pony Club), Nathan Williams (Ideal / Electric Stew), Martin Green (Resurrection Records), Richard X (Girls On Top) & JP Buckle (National Bandit).
