Lowlands, Holland, Sunday 26 August
2001
Check out their crazy site
Lowlands 2001 is being held at Six Flags Holland, Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands. Biddinghuizen, a village close to the towns of Harderwijk, Dronten and Lelystad, is situated right in the middle of nowhere, i.e. the vast lowlands (geddit?) of the Flevopolder, just up the road from Amsterdam. This youngest of the 12 Dutch provinces lies in the heart of Holland and is within travelling distance of all major Dutch cities. Six Flags Holland is a well-known family theme park.
SETLIST: Sorted / Minnie Timperley / Bad Cover Version / Common People / F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E. / A Little Soul / Birds In Your Garden / Weeds / I Love Life / Party Hard / This Is Hardcore / Sunrise
Despite the early arrival of the monsoon season in Holland the festival sprit remained undampened (unlike everything else). Pulp played an hour long set to a packed tent who seemed to be getting down to it, at least from where I was standing. I don't think they were in there just to get out of the rain, anyway.
Jarvis dedicated 'I Love Life' to
Candida, whose birthday it was the previous day.... he also forgot some of the
words to Bad Cover Version, and Candida's keyboard keys kept sticking in the
down position, but apart from that it went ok!
