Manchester Apollo 25 November 2001

Set list: Weeds / Minnie / Birds in Your Garden / Something Changed / Laughing Boy / Live Bed Show / F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E / Bad Cover Version / The Trees / I Love Life / This Is Hardcore / Sunrise / Sorted / Babies / Underwear

Bit of a strange one this, the set had to be cut a little short because of the 10.30pm curfew ...sorry about that. Got some great pics though! Photos by Gary Simpson.

I just wanted to say how fantastic Pulp were in Manchester. The band really looked like they were enjoying themselves, and the Fat Truckers were a surprisingly good support act. I've never seen anyone play a light sabre before! Highlights:
Jarvis giving me his ciggie (although i don't smoke...); Bad Cover Version + Feeling Called Love; The woman who fell asleep through most of the gig after drinking special brew all night!
Lowpoints: The curfew (boo!)
Being man-handled by the security when waiting for a setlist - none of the lowpoints are pulp's fault!!!
I reckon it was one of their best gigs (and I've seen them about 15 times!), and there was a great mix of tunes...(Sharon)
The Apollo was quite large really, and it seemed to be pretty packed! I was on the second row back, and all the people around me seemed to be clapping ALL the time, which did become quite annoying after a while! Jarvis was, once again, on top form, and Candida looked splendid. Unfortunately, because the gig had to be cut short, we missed such pleasures as The Fear and I was disappointed that Wickerman was not played. I felt the crowd knew a lot more songs than at Sheffield, and the atmosphere was much more welcoming. All in all, I'd say, not as good as Sheffield, in my opinion, but still a bloody good gig! Sorry if I seem biased, but Sheffield was fantastic...(Charlotte Lewis)
I had forgotten how emotional Pulp gigs are. Thanks to the band for reminding me. It was wonderful. Lauren Chadwick.

I enjoyed Manchester, even got a bit more used to the Fat Truckers, though the rest of the crowd seemed very unimpressed with them. In fact it seemed quite a subdued crowd. Well apart from the girl very near my ear who continuously yelled 'Jarvis, I love you'. He couldn't hear her properly despite what he described as a 'piercing voice'!  Should've tried it from down here, Jarvis! It was a shame also that the show had to finish for 10.30 as it was Sunday! Come on Manchester ... that was not the case in Nottingham last week. But Pulp played well, the sound was good and Jarvis performed as brilliantly as ever. He seemed relaxed and we were treated to lots of his chat. Weeds & Minnie & Sunrise have always been obvious live songs & they were great again. Birds is just a beautiful song anyway. But I Love My Life & Bad Cover Version are turning out to be great live songs.  Wish they'd do Bob Lind ... maybe at Brixton.  (Toni Sutton)
Two Fat Truckers (Ross & Jason) lend a hand at the start of Weeds

Manchester was the last of 3 gigs I went to during this tour - and what a nice ending it was too. Pulp where on top form and I couldn't imagine them being better. Babies was again played which I could hear over and over and never get bored of!!! - I just wish I was seeing them in Brixton later this
week - but that's just being greedy! (Rachel)

Hallo, just thought i would let you know how fab Pulp were last nite. The gig was great! Pulp were faultless and Jarvis was as godly as ever. Sadly they had to finish at 10:30 instead of 11:00...but we still got a great rendition of Babies and Underwear. I was really impressed by the new stuff aswell...i didn't know I knew so many of the lyrics to the new stuff. The Fat Truckers were a bit crap really. (I think you'll find they were actually ace - FT Ed)  although the dancing was funny..and I want the flashy lightsabre thing one of the guys had! Thanks you sooo much Pulp!!!!! (Rich)
