"Thank you ever so much - that was the best Pulp show we've seen for ages, and you know we've seen a few! Felt like we were back in 94 or 95...the show was brilliant, Jarvis was fantastic, even Webbo seemed to have some fun! It's been a lovely day, apart from the fact that no-one here seems to speak a word of French or English. But let's get to the action: I can now see and hear Sonic Youth doing their thing on stage, and I can even see lil' Webber on the other side of the stage, watching them, obviously loving it - not that he shows it much, but you can tell somehow... Well, Sonic Youth are not my kind of thing, so I go back to the VIP area to try to get a word from some interesting people....Well, back to the main stage. The VIP area is a no mans land, everybody is asleep, although I wonder how they can do it with Sonic Youth making so much noise on stage....
...Pulp have come and gone now...what a show! I was down at the front, dancing and singing my heart out as usual. I'm absolutely knackered and all bruised thanks to some stupid Sonic Youth fans who tried to ruin it all by crowd surfing to every song that Pulp played. I mean, what better song to surf to than Dishes, right?! Anyway. What a hell of a show!! This is the best Pulp show I've seen in years! From the very exclusive opening We Are The Boyz to the amazing Party Hard, the fantastic Seductive Barry and gorgeous Dishes...it was just so absolutely beautiful and brilliant. I almost cried during This Is Hardcore. Oh, I just wish you were there to see and live this...everybody seemed to enjoy the set, even the band looked like they were enjoying themselves! Even Webber looked like he was having fun! Now, that says it all, doesn't it?! Jarvis looked, if not happy, very pleased to be on stage; you know how his voice is electronically changed for Party Hard? Well he had a lot of fun playing with that for a bit, going on how he was from another planet and stuff. And then there was the best bit when he was trying to climb up the scaffolding at the side of the stage. Really scary! Richard ran on, got him down, and obviously told him off (should have seen his face!) - it reminded me of the times he used to climb up the PA's and under Nick's drumkit! All in all I had a great time. It was a long way to go, but it was surely worth it!" (Margo Mercier)
