Nick Banks on parenthood

"I don't smoke, but it was the only situation where I ever thought in my life, I really could do with a fag now, yeah. You're outside, because he [Jackson] was a caesarian section, got all the gown and all that stuff on, and he [the Consultant] came outside this room and said, "We'll be about 15 or 20 minutes", and you're thinking, "My God, how long can 20 minutes be, give me a fag!!" I would have sparked up immediately.

"Jackson went to Glastonbury with us, when he was seven months old, something like that,  in a camper van, when it was waist deep in mud, and I do believe he had a sip of cider from Joe Strummer's paper cup, didn't he? His very first sip of cider. Obviously not encouraging the under one's to take up cider....

Sarah: "He's been to Sweden...Finsbury Park...."

"Yes, he came to see us in Sweden, and enjoyed that...he played on the drums there at the soundcheck, then took some of the drumsticks away, and when we started playing he'd still got these drumstick, going, [launches into impression of small child] "Ah! Ah! These are the drumsticks!" - he didn't realise, obviously that there would be more kicking about...

"When we did Finsbury Park last year, in one of the backstage areas we did have a little child's sand-pit and paddling pool and things like that....[dissolves into child like giggles]...
